Merry Christmas to all who visit this site!!!

The Sellersville Belles Night Before Christmas ‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; the new player bags were hung in their rooms with care, In hopes that the white uniforms would come from somewhere; The players were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of ASA Nationals in Texas danced in their heads; And Mamma in her Belles nightshirt and I in my Belles cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap; When out on the field there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the newly spread infield mix, Gave a look of mid-season, ‘cause the field had been fix; (Of course Greg Long had been there earlier!!) When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a White Honda Odyssey all filled with softball gear, With a big old driver so lively and quick, (well lively anyway) I knew in a moment it must be Coach K - he’s sick! More rapid than eagles his players they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name: “Now, Beddy! Now, Dungee! Now, B1 and B2! On, Malizzia! On, Everist! On Scherr, Staff, and Schultzy! Hustle Betsy and J Lo! On Diesel! And on Karpac and Lockett! To the top of the League! The Belles aren’t going to the mall! Now bunt away! slap away! Hit away all!” As whiffle balls that before the soft toss drill do fly, When they meet poorly with a bat , mount to the sky, So up to the Field 1 the players they flew, With their arms full of equipment, and Coaches Dugan, Gordo, Stover, and Buck too. And then in a twinkling, I heard in the park The throwing and swinging of each Belle with a spark. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, onto the field Coach K came with a bound. He was dressed all in Purple, from his head to his foot, and his clothes were all covered with lime and-oh shoot! A bag of equipment he had flung on his back, And he looked like an old man who has a bad back. His eyes - how they twinkled! His dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, (doesn’t this paint the perfect picture of Coach K? Not!!) And the beard on his chin he doesn’t have one you know; The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath; (ignore the previous four lines because Belles don’t smoke) He had a broad face and little round belly, (doesn’t he wish) That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly. He was chubby and plump - a right jolly old elf - And I laughed when I saw him, but kept it to myself. A wink of his eye and a twist of his head Soon gave me to know he had a balding head. He spoke not a word, (well that NEVER happens) but made the team go to work, And filled all his players with softball skills; Because not one Belle is a jerk, And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, the players laid a bunt at their toes; He sprang to his Honda, to his team gave a shout, And away they all flew because Christmas break practice was out. But I heard him exclaim, as the Belles drove out of sight, “Happy Christmas to all, and I’ll see you at hitting on a Tuesday night!” This is hoping that you all have a happy and healthy Christmas Holiday and have a festive and prosperous New Year!!! Reasons to be Thankful...

Posted by Paul Koehler at Nov 20, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
we at Sellersville have many reasons to count our blessings at this time of year. We are thankful for the opportunity to play the great game of fastpitch in a great small town of Sellersville. We have wonderful young ladies who are talented and always show good sportsmanship. We are thankful for the parents and families who sacrifice time and money to allow these young ladies to play. We are thankful for the coaches who work to instruct, motivate, and build a true love for this game in each player. We are also thankful for the wives and families of our coaches who do not have daughters involved playing anymore. May we never forget why we have reason to be thankful.

"Thrilla...III"

Posted by Paul Koehler at Sep 6, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
... is set for Saturday, September 23rd, 2006. It will be held at B. Earl Druckenmiller Playground on Maple Ave. in Sellersville PA, the home of the Sellersville Belles. This is the 3rd year for the "Thrilla in Sellersvilla." This year's "Thrilla...III" features 9 local Division III college softball teams; Alvernia, Arcadia, Eastern, Delaware Valley, Moravian, Gwynedd Mercy, Swarthmore, Chestnut Hill, and Ursinus. Games will start at 9:00 AM and continue through the day with the final game of the day at 7:00 PM under the lights featuring Knights of Arcadia University and the Greyhounds of Moravian College. The "Thrilla In Sellersvilla" was started 3 years ago after the NCAA ruled that Division III softball teams would be limited to one day of competition in the fall of the year. Since most colleges only have one field and could only probably play 2 different opponents in the course of a day, the Sellersville Belles decided to host a day of play. With 3 fields at Druckenmiller Park, 6 different teams can play at one time and there are lights so the day can also be extended. Paul Koehler, president of the Sellersville Belles, said "this is great for our area. It allows D III schools the chance to play more than one or two games. It also gives local players to see a level of college softball played in Sellersville. Finally it allows these college coaches to see their new Freshman on the field and also they can get recruits to come see them play in a local setting." So come on out to Sellersville and catch some of the "Thrilla...III!" You'll be glad you did.
