Belles Survive Pennsbury...

Posted by Paul Koehler at Jun 20, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Yes, the young Sellersville Belles can now say about the "Pennsbury Annual Art Coleman Showcse Tournament," "been there, done that." Once the Belles shook of the nerves about playing in the biggest college showcase in the Northeast, with 71 other teams from all over the United States(Alaska included), they played some gutsy battlin' Belles softball. The locals went 2-3 in their bracket, winning games with the Midway Orange Crush and the Morris County Belles. Pitchers Erin Degnan and Emilie Dudek both notched victories. The Belles defense played mostly with heart as they worked through injuries and ailments, moving players around to get through. The offense was lead by Melissa Gates. Gates hit .500 on the weekend, going 6 for 12 at the plate with 2 RBI. The highlight of the weekend was in the bottom of the 6th inning, with the Belles leading the Crush 4-2, Missy launched a solo homerun over the centerfield fence for the first Belles "round triper" of the 2004 season!! Jill Long also was 3 for 6 in the 2 games she played and LeeAnn Kramer hit .363 for the weekend. "This was a great weekend for our girls for two reasons. First, we got 5 games in in the weekend; and second, all 5 games were against quality teams. This type of tournament challenges players to pick up their game. We have several young players who will benefit greatly from this experience," said Belles Head Coach Paul Koehler. More on each game can be read on the individual game articles.image

Erin Goes Belles...

Posted by Paul Koehler at Mar 18, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
not Erin Go Braugh(that is an attempt to tie this to St. Patrick's Day). But Irish Eyes have been shining on the 18 & Under Sellersville Belles and Erin Degnan has joined the 2004 Belles. Erin will strengthen our pitching staff as a right hander with a variety of pitches and killer accuracy. Erin comes to us from the Banshees Black where she played the last three seasons. We are excited about the addition of her strong accurate arm to our pitching staff, joining Emilie Dudek and Jordan Davenport. Coach Paul Koehler said "Erin is a welcome addition to our squad. We will be playing a very aggressive schedule this season and the addition of a third strong arm is going to go a long way to help the Belles succeed." Erin Degnan - #44 - welcome to the Sellersville Belles!!! Let's Go Belles!!

Koehler Named Academic All-District

Posted by Paul Koehler at May 13, 2003 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Belles Charter Member, Andria Koehler, was named to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District II University Division Softball First Team, her second consecutive year earning the honor. The honor advances Andria to the national ballot, making her eligible to be named an academic All-American. Koehler leaves Rutgers University with a career record of 39-33 and a 2.53 ERA in 99 appearances while "on the Banks." She has a 3.896 GPA in environmental planning and design. Koehler was also named the Scarlet Knights' co-MVP for the 2003 season with battery mate Nikki Childress. This just goes to show that Sellersville Belles can play and excel at the collegiate level. Congratulations Andria, on a great career both on the softball field and in the classroom. You have put the Sellersville Belles Organization on the map!
