"Thrilla..." a Huge Success!!

Posted by Paul Koehler on Sep 27 2004 at 05:00PM PDT
Well the weather could not have been better. The fields were in great shape. The food was up to it's usual favor. The tournament t-shirt was popular. Even the umpires did a nice job. And the 8 Division III Head Softball Coaches had nothing but rave reviews for the day at Sellersville. Yes, the Inaugural Thrilla In Sellersvilla was a huge success. Eleven games were played on two fields, from 9:00 AM through the nightcap at 7:00 PM between Moravian College and Arcadia University. Most of the coaches used the day just for what fall ball is all about -- to see what their new players were capable of and what things will they need to focus on going into indoor workouts. The mix of teams made for competitive games throughout the day. Immaculata, Eastern, Chestnut Hill, and Moravian all played 2 games on the day. Centenary and Haverford played 3 games and Arcadia and Alvernia played 4 games througout the day. Due to the positive feedback from the coaches and players and fans, there will most probably be the 2nd Annual Thrilla In Sellersvilla next fall in September of 2005. Thanks go out to the teams for their participation; the umpires for what they do; the fans for their interest and attendance; and the Belles volunteers for their work throughout the day to make the "Thrilla ..." an event to remember.
